I get it… wedding planning is hard!

It’s overwhelming and there is a never-ending list of quotes to organise/review/book, research to be done, venues to tour etc etc and not to mention keeping on top of the budget spreadsheet!!! I know because I’ve been there… Every weekend I felt like Alice in Wonderland, disappearing down the wedding planning rabbit hole only to emerge on Monday not quite knowing what I did or what I actually achieved.

I have made a super easy timeline as a guide below based on my recommended timeline for planning out your cake and desserts so it’s not a mad rush at the end and you don’t miss out on your favourite cake designer because they’re booked out. It’s one of the tastiest and creative parts of your wedding day so don’t be afraid to prioritise it!

Cake Tasting & Design Consultation (8-12 months out)

Twice a year we offer to-go Taster Boxes. They include eight to ten large cake samples (to share, if you must) and two petite sugar cookies. $20 of this cost is redeemable against your cake order over $350 not incl. delivery. Most of the time we can easily design your cake via email however we also offer in-person design consultations by request, please get in contact if you’d like more information. You can see a bit more info about our next taster boxes here.

Deposit paid… tick the cake off your to-do list! (6-12 months out)

Once your deposit has been paid we begin sourcing ingredients and supplies for your wedding cake and start work on your toppers/decorations if required, often weeks or months in advance. A single tier cake can take up to 6 hours (yes, really!) and stacked cakes are built carefully over 3–4 days! There is a great deal of thought and preparation that goes into the concept and development of an amazing cake that tastes great and arrives at your venue looking amazing.

When you’re locked in and confirmed, we will send you an info sheet about what’s next, how to request cake flowers from your florist and things to consider when purchasing a cake stand and cake topper.

If you’d like a mock up of your cake design, we’re more than happy to provide after your deposit has been made. Below are some examples of what you can expect. Please note, we do not provide mock ups for basic buttercream/semi-naked cakes decorated with flowers.

Your wedding week (the countdown is on!)

We look after the whole shebang and coordinate directly with your venue, planner and florist the week of your wedding so you don’t have to. We will send you an email approx. 1 week before your wedding day to let you know what we have confirmed with all your suppliers, design and flavour check for your cake and any last minute details we need to confirm. This is the time for you to relax because all your cake needs will be taken care of!

On your wedding day (woohoo!)

On your wedding day, we deliver, set up and prepare any flowers/decorations and style your wedding cake on site. You won’t hear from us on the day, we’ll leave a cutting guide with your venue coordinator/chef, snap a few pictures for Instagram and head off. As you can imagine, delivering wedding cakes is nerve wracking and time sensitive and we often bring a second person if we’re handling large cakes or complex floral arrangements.

Behind the scenes

We’re fully insured with Red Star and have a Class 1 Food License issued by the Moreton Bay Regional Council (incl. food safety certification and approved kitchen). We love a challenge and take pride in investing in learning new skills, testing and trialing new techniques, recipes and cake flavour combinations. Just let us know if there is anything you’d like to try.
